I have been trying to find someone to build a site for me. I have build most of my prototype in PHP but, I would like to have it build with Flex. Can any of you respond back to me. I am new to the internet backend world, so I have no clue to how much or how long it might take to build the site of my dreams. If any of you are up to the challenge of building a site from an artist point of view please hit me back.
I'm a freelancer but I am just starting out with Flex and trying to figure if it's something I need to learn. I do lots of Flash already for websitesand multimedia. This seems to go that step further. I am always interested in expanding my knowledge and I love the elation when an idea actually executes.
Sorry I am just responsing to you. I have gone the PHP/flash route however I am not complete. It seems to be a challenge in finding a programmer that is a backend and interactive person. I dont know Flex that well nor am I a programmer. From what i have seen flex seems to run slow, however the ui are beautiful. Another problem that I have is that the 9 player is not working on any of my machines that i use so I have not come back to Flex. I would love to at least talk to you maybe you can show me something different. At this point I am at a lost on how to go about getting something build, everyone wants to build clones.
Started freelancing about two years ago. I had been developing strictly for the desktop with a little known software. Switched to Flex because of its great potential. Problem was that I had no prior experience with actionscript and little experience in OO. I decided to turn a negative into a positive. I am about to migrate in New Zealand and this makes working conditions a bit difficult. Because it takes 3 months for our belongings to reach NZ, we shipped them a few weeks ago, left our flat for a succession of housesitting and taking care of cats for friends away, with unreliable internet connections (good internet connections are critical to my job as a freelancer in Edinburgh as I tend to work for clients all over the globe).
I have chosen not to take up client work for 3 months. I am currently visiting fellow in an academic environment (I do e-learning, I use the time here for collaborations) and earn Flex, intensively.
I start to be operational in Flex. I will be looking for work as soon as I arrive in NZ, mid-December, early January. If there is a great opportunity for long-term employment, I will take it. But in the absence of a great opportunity, I prefer to go freelance and alternate between client work and work on my own projects.
Thank you for responding. I posted on here a while ago, and since then I still dont have my site completed. I have parts. Maybe in time you might be able to help me. Good luck in NZ.
I'm full time employed. But, I own the company, so my situation is a little more formal than the visage that "Freelance" usually brings up, but not quite as formal as being employed full time.
I routinely need Flex resource; so if you do freelance feel free to send me a resume and intro letter.
